About Peace & Plenty – Great Exuma’s Most Iconic Resort

Our beautifully appointed 34-room boutique hotel is a cherished landmark and institution of Georgetown, Great Exuma, Bahamas. Built in 1958 by Lawrence Lewis — grandnephew and heir of railroad tycoon Henry Flagler — the hotel stands on the site of a former Loyalist cotton plantation. Its name honors the British trading ship Peace and Plenty, which arrived on Exuma’s shores in 1783, weaving history into every corner of this storied Exuma island resort.

A Government – Recognized Bahamian Icon

In over six decades, Peace & Plenty has become the heart and soul of Great Exuma — the quintessential gathering place for visitors and locals alike. In 2014, to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, the Bahamian Government issued four commemorative stamps honoring the country’s most seminal hotels. Peace & Plenty was not only featured but recognized as the oldest of the four — a lasting testament to its enduring legacy and unmatched place in Bahamian Out Island history.
